Donating Goods

When you hear the words “donate to charity,” you probably think of handing over an envelope of cash or a cheque.  Financial donations are very much appreciated, but they are far from the only way you can make a difference.  Helping us stock our donation room (especially with high need items) or donating 'gifts in kind' are two additional ways of contributing that are also very much appreciated!
  • PHYSICAL ITEMS
  • NEEDS LIST
  • GIFTS IN KIND

Donations are made available to both residential and outreach clients, as supplies allow.  On occasion, we share donated items with other charities/non-profits if they express a need and we are fortunate enough to have more than enough for our own clients in stock.

In order to meet our clients' needs in a way that respects their safety and dignity, we ask donors to keep the following points in mind:
  • Food items should be within their sell/use by date.
  • Personal care items and undergarments should be new/unused.
  • Clothing and household items should be in good condition.

Here are some other notes of importance:
  • We can accept both non-perishable and freezer-friendly perishable food items.
  • We prefer clothing donations to be seasonally appropriate due to storage limitations.
  • We are very limited in our ability to accept large household items due to the resources required to store and transport them.
  • If you are thinking about purchasing physical items to donate, please consider putting that money towards a gift card instead. Gift cards allow for much more flexibility and variety in meeting our clients' needs.  They also require minimal storage and minimal effort to organize.

Please call us if you have any physical items that you would like to donate.

'Gifts in kind' are non-cash donations that are often given to assist an organization in raising funds - for example, merchandise that can be used as a door prize or auction/raffle item at a charity event.

Tax receipts can be issued for the fair market value of gifts in kind, as long as they are physical goods (not services).

Please call us if you would like to donate a gift in kind.
