Sponsor a Family for Christmas

Christmas can be a very stressful time for families who have left violent situations. More often than not, they are starting fresh with very little - in some cases, with nothing at all. All of the families who live at Liberty Lane and most of the families who access our outreach services are low income. It can be difficult enough to for these families to provide the basic necessities of life, let alone a special Christmas meal or gifts.

You can make the holiday season so much brighter for the families we serve by participating in our Christmas sponsorship program. In doing so, you help to give parents and kids a Christmas they would not have otherwise. Your commitment puts gifts under the tree for a specific family in need.

The following sponsorship budgets are recommended for equity purposes:

Single Person: $200
Families: $200 for mom + $300 for each child

(i.e. $500 total for a 1-child family,
$800 total for a 2-child family,
$1100 total for a 3-child family, etc.)

Note: If these budget recommendations do not work for you, gift cards are a wonderful alternative to traditional sponsorship. All types of gift cards are welcome - for department stores (e.g. Walmart, Giant Tiger), grocery stores (e.g. Sobeys, Superstore, Victory), gas stations (e.g. Irving), etc. Gift cards for entertainment or dining out are also welcome, as these are luxuries that our families rarely or never experience. Denominations of $25 .00 per gift card are ideal - feel free to donate a single card or multiple cards, whatever your budget allows.

How Christmas Sponsorship Works

Determine your budget level and Liberty Lane will match you with a family. We can accept sponsorship commitments as early as November.
Receive your customized wish list. It will give details of the gender and age of the children, and sizes for clothes and shoes if required. You are not obligated to buy everything on the list. We ask parents to highlight the most important items, but please try to honor the budget you committed to or we will have some very disappointed children.
Go shopping. All items should be new and in original wrapping. No used items, please.
Wrap mom’s presents, so she will also get to experience the joy of opening gifts on Christmas Day.
There is no need to wrap the children's presents, but we kindly ask that you provide all the required supplies (i.e. paper, bags, bows, tape). Allowing parents the experience of wrapping their children's presents is a gift in itself.
Presents should be delivered to Liberty Lane approximately 2 weeks before Christmas. The deadline for delivery is 1 week before., This gives us time to make sure everything is in order and to arrange delivery. Sponsors are unable to deliver directly to families for confidentiality reasons.
